S.T.A.R.T (Stafford Teachers And Residents Together) “to make a difference” is a grassroots community organization co-founded by Joe Mangino and Michael Dunlea in October of 2012 following the devastation caused by Superstorm Sandy. S.T.A.R.T mobilized an army of civilian volunteers who responded to the recovery and rebuilding needs of
the Stafford Township and Long Beach Island Communities. In 2014, S.T.A.R.T. became a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation. Moving forward, S.T.A.R.T continues to assist those struggling to return to their homes 2.5 years post-Sandy. The organization seeks to engage and empower volunteers of all ages, promote civic pride, foster partnerships with community leaders and lend its support to other non-profits.
The mission of S.T.A.R.T is to support the Stafford Township/Long Beach Island community while participating in activities that empower people, encourage volunteerism and promote civic spirit.
